The weather was gorgeously warm (the sunburn on my neck is evidence enough), the free beers were chilled and it was good to be painting with the guys again without the setting of a windy, overcast barge...curse you, you inadequate upfest venue. Bitter? I'm not bitter! Anyway, here's a bunch of shots from the opening of SU3:

Irony and others had got to the CB1 a few days earlier and painted it up. This angel greets you as you enter the toilet Wink

Both of Mish Mash's pieces, in the spot that would've won the award for the most bugs and things of nature falling down onto you and your paint...if it existed.

The path that led into CB1's garden, with another Irony angel and a lifesize piece by Maya further along.

"Why does everyone use Montana Gold?"
"Because it's good."
"Oh."

I forget the poet's name but another Maya piece Smile

The other Maya painting, all very classical and classy.

One of Monkeyartprint's punny pieces Razz

Get it? FLYPOSTING.

How appropriate, eh?

The downstairs had all the canvas pieces, prints and vinyls on show and for sale. This is an extreme close up of Mish Mash's 'Emo Girl'.

An in progress shot of my stubborn stencil, using a combination of masking tape, drawing pins (thanks optik and k74, haha) and spray adhesive to keep the bloody dog where I wanted him.

My 'No Dogs' piece, which was a damn sight easier than my Bristol contribution. Dogs are rather similar to graffiti artists, they wander around the streets and like to leave their mark wherever they go, whether it's allowed or not. How fitting an embodiment of graffiti! Wink

Optik cut this topical piece on the morning of the day because his other Jackson stencil messed up for some reason.

Another extreme close up of Monkeyartprint's thoughtful looking ladies.

Schlomo getting catty with a foreboding tiger.

People were coming and going throughout the day, although the sound of didgeridoo seemed to remain throughout the day, intermittently being joined with a guitar and singing. Refresingly soothing, to my surprise, haha.

The speed at which Eyesaw got his stencils up was truly enviable...

...as well as an enviable finished piece.

For the sake of Snik's peace of mind, I'll avoid any photos of his work but honestly man, I think you were being a bit too hard on yourself.

Savour the weather.

If I remember rightly, paste up by Stagger.

In the toilets and, incase you've lost your sense of scale, this is the more typical size of my work and not the same stencil I used for the wall Razz

"...what else can we get you to stencil?". Apparently, anything that would get thrown away...why can't it be bikini-clad women?! Yeah, I'm looking at you, Kirpy, haha. I lost count of how many sheets of cardboard, empty paint cans, portfolios and beer bottles I sprayed to hand out or get Schlomo to leave as drops (or keep for himself, I'll never know) around Cambridge city centre.

And then that was me done, a 3 hour journey back home...

A big thank you to Blight Society for organising such a fantastic event and a happy nod to Schlomo, Eyesaw, Snik, Mish Mash, MonkeyArtPrints, Optik Nerve, Unit, Blag, Aidyn, Stagger and Maya for making it a memorable Saturday.

The show runs until around the 18th of this month, at the 'CB1' along Mill Road in Cambridge. If you can get there, have a peek.

And if any of you guys want any and all the shots I have of your work, give me a poke and I can stick them up in a ZIP file for you to download.

I see what you’re saying but it’s far from shoddy. Plenty good enough for the Cambridge crowed.

It was a great day. I enjoyed painting along to digeridoo and guitar. All very tribal sounding. The poet is called Walt Whitman btw.
